Helen Gleeson Awarded 2025 Alfred Saupe Prize
Helen Gleeson was awarded the highest honour of the German Liquid Crystal Society at their annual conference in Gottingen in March. The Alfred Saupe Prize was awarded for ‘her outstanding contribution to the scientific understanding of liquid crystals with reduced symmetry’. The award was established in honour of Alfred Saupe who was a renowned theoretician, best known for Maier-Saupe theory in liquid crystals. It has been made annually since 2009 to liquid crystal scientists in Germany and worldwide; this is the first time the honour has come to the UK.
